Cultural Route of the Oil
The tourism of the area can be recreated in the Culture of the Olive grove thanks to the Oil Route.
This route runs through the main olive-growing areas of the Sierra. A part of the route goes from Beas to Cortijos Nuevos, passing through the Caves of Ambrosio and Cañada Catena.
Also known as the Cultural Route, in the Caves we can not only know its oil mill but also the mountainous orography that surrounds it, a mixture of olive groves and pine forests invites us to make a stop that allows us to discover the many charms of area.
The village occupies a strategic position on a tobar rock where limestone caves abound, forming an admirable picturesque complex.
The oldest houses were built taking advantage of the shelter of a shelter or cave in the rock, and at one time they were corrals and inns for the cattle that accessed from Beas towards the heart of the Sierra.
In front of the village is the magnificent Cerro "Burdés", crowned by a rocky ridge, where the legend places a deep cave with multiple bifurcations and endless chasms. Being a refuge for the Moors during the Christian occupation of the place, back in the middle ages, it is said that they hid here the great treasure of the Segura castle, buried in their bowels in large clay holes that aroused the curiosity and interest of many in other times.
